I just hived a swarm in a new top bar hive. I set the follower board 12 or 13 bars deep in the hive, and the bees decided to start festooning and making comb at the follower board instead of the front of the hive. Should I move the bars they are building to the front of the hive? If so, how long should I wait to rearrange the hive?

Thanks

If they are drawing comb, let them be. They can still abscond.

I don't really care where the decide to build, however, they are cross-combing. Any advice on how to correct this would be appreciated.

I was also under the impression that you wanted the brood nest in one end of the hive, rather than the middle?
