by definition, I'm not even a behaver yet....the first chance I get to fill by bee box is an established colony setup in a cedar tree..entrance is about the size of a baseball....what do I do? I have nothing in the way of foundation, or brood...so trapping the workers and adding them to nothing equals nothing...Is there a solution or magic insturment that will coax the queen out? I'm not sure if they'll let me cut the tree down to actually get to some comb.....if they will, that;ll be great, but if they're hell bent on keeping the tree, what would you do?

thanks

That is a tough way to start beekeeping. If you really want to keep bees, I would suggest that you read some books. When you feel you have enough knowledge to start. Find a local beekeeping club. Maybe attend a bee school if the club offers it.
It may be tempting to jump right in when you see the colony, but good beekeepers are patient.
If you are hell bent on getting that colony, find a local beekeeper to help.
