We had to requeen one of our hives. We used a queen cell. She emerged, went on her mating flight, and is back and laying. Two things we noticed and don’t know if it’s a concern:
1. She was very slow moving on the frames (our other queens have been more active)
2. Her wings are smaller than any other queen we have had

Do we worry about either of those?

As always, thank you!

The laying pattern is the #1 criteria.
Watch that.
The rest is secondary as far as you are concerned, be she wing-less or green in color.
Bees will take care if anything important is amiss with her.

So... her wings were large enough for her to fly to a DCA and get mated, what else is there to worry about? Like Greg said, if her laying pattern is good, so are you. If the bees think there is a problem, you will have a new queen before long.
