I captured this swarm about two weeks ago and put them in a box with plastic foundation. This is my very first hive. Can someone identify the pic for me? I would assume it's just new comb, but it looks so much different than the comb they are building everywhere else. This little section is about the size of a large pecan and sticks out from the rest of the regular cone. Any ideas? Avenue Bee 002 RESIZE.jpg

This is just bur comb, you can trim it off and scrape the frame clean before the bees build to much of it, if they continue you will have a mess on your hands and the bees are wasting their energy building it.

That's cross comb, where they build a bridge of comb between frames. As stated above, cut it off, the bees will rebuild correctly, if u don't, you will have a huge mess on your hands.
