Planning ski trip to either Rio Dosa or CloudCroft N.Mex. Will be staying with my brother in Carlsbad N.Mex. I skiid [sp?] in Rio Dosa about January 1975. No one else has any experience. 17 yr. old daughter, 15 yr. old son, 13 yr. old son, all very agile and athletic. My wife is also going but claims I WILL NOT catch her on any skiis. Of course I intend to join the children. Children were also asking about snowboarding. Have a couple of thousand to drop. Can we have a good time for 3-4 days for this amount. Won't need any lodging.

Wondering if anyone could give me any insight on the best place to go for 3 or 4 day skii trip. Will be staying at my brothers in Carlsbad N.M. and driving to the ski resort. Will I need snow chains etc.? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. What can we expect to pay for meals at the ski resort. Probably only 1 meal per day there. Might try to head out end of next week. Do I need to make reservations for lifts/equipment/lessons/etc?

I recommend you go up to Santa Fe. It has all levels and is nicer than Ruidoso or Cloudcroft. No chains necessary. There are cheap and good eats in town, and its a short drive up. PM me if you need more info.

I've heard Taos is wonderful. Has great "ski better" packages. Its where I would be heading if not for a fx tibia from skiing in Dec. Missed the epic snows here. Have a great time. Take sunscreen.

I am in East Texas (South of Palestine, Anderson County, Texas). Hoping to drive in one day, ski for a couple of days and drive back in a day. More driving time then that, and the children won't get as much enjoyment for the time spent sitting in a car. Also, I was planning on spending the nights with my brother in Carlsbad and driving to the ski resorsts to save lodging, but of course with a package deal it may not save enough for the extra loss of skiing time and travel time.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the others but I know Ruidoso has a casino. Get on a good run of blackjack the first night and your trip is paid for.
