Wow! That has to be one of the nicest hive paint jobs I've ever seen. Good luck with the bees. Let us know how it goes.
God bless...

My 5 year old son is really into the bees with me, he thinks they are just super cool. My 8 year old daughter on the other hand, not so much....wonder if it was because of that one that crawled into her ear last year?? Regardless, I was just thinking yesterday that I just don't have time right now to paint any hives and I need them painted, I am currently using bare equipment, so why not have the kids paint a couple for me, they can paint whatever they want on it to make them feel that it was their hive. I think once I show my daughter your pics, she'll be more into wanting to paint one. Thanks for the pics!

Nice. Makes me glad I don't have a daughter though. Looks like way too much work to paint that.

Dutch,

Those might be the cutiest pics I have ever seen. Totally awesome!

Keep us updated. I want to see her doing some inspections.

Well, as the father of two of them I can tell you that if you did have daughters you wouldn't consider it work. At least not after you see the smiles things like this produce:)

Great work DutchBee! They're beautiful. My youngest (12yrs) just tried on her new bee suit tonight. Very cool look of pride on her face.

I read the postings as the picutes loaded, I should have guessed purple(excuse me lavender). Great job, lets not forget the honey supers she'll need.

:eek:You know what spring time cleansing flights do to a hive? Better wrap that artwork come November!
Never too young to beek!

Looks Great!

Consider a UV resistant clearcoat to preserve the artwork.

Rustoleum has a few. Do a test first to make sure it won't lift the base color and designs. Avoid a winter wrap that can hold moisture against the surface... Tyvek (or nothing) would bee my choice.

The artist deserves a round of applause :applause:

I got a chocolate fish for Easter.

My daughter paints my hives before I seal them (she is 5) - we have the same stencils!

She isn't quite so neat though - I would describe her artwork as 'free form impressionism'!

The upside is, it is unlikely anyone will ever steal my hives - they are too easy to identify.

I will be sure to keep everyone updated and pictures of her working in her suit. We pick up all of our honey supers when we pick up our packages next Friday so she will have a couple of them to paint next.

The people at Dadant at Albion are real nice with her when we drive down. Giving her honey candy, coloring books and such. Generally I think Bee people are just nice in general. Must be something in the Bees's.

Great job Dad, very nice and real cute paint job and daughter, Im sure she'll have a great time wearing her suit and watching her bees. Wonderful idea, I have a daughter 13, and son 9 and think I'll let them paint one each too. They painted a couple bird houses a couple weeks ago and had a great time, ever seen a lime green bird house with pink poke a dots? they had a great time building them and painting them too. Good job !!

Beautiful hive. My 8 yr old daughter is getting her packages is Saturday. We painted her hives together is past winter. I'll have to get some photos and post. Ensure you use a UV clear coat. We found some at ACE hardware. :)
