If I had to move bees 100 miles or so in the dead of winter, what would I do different if anything? Will the bees notice and be stressed /die, is moving them in the cold a bad idea? I am working on the assumption that it is no big deal to move bees as long as the hive is not opened. This would be like a move the commercial 'keeper do to get their bees to Cali for the almonds.

Any tips or pitfalls to this activity would be appreciated. I did a search but did not find any specific info on how to move them in the dead of winter.

Put them on a truck, throw a net over them, strap them down and go. To put it simply.
