Hey, has anyone had any experience with using moth balls around your hives. I placed some within a 5-6ft radius to keep the skunks out. Is this a good idea, or are the moth balls hazardous to the bees?
Moth balls of all types are hazardous to bees. Both Naphlene and ParaDichloroBenzene will kill bees. Whether the concentrations would be high enough to notice, I can't say, but I hate the smell of it and that would be enough reason for me not to use them.
Maybe for bears I MIGHT consider them if I couldn't get any other resolution.
I just went to top entrances and have never had a skunk problem again.
