I had a colony die, when I took this hive apart I found starved bees and moldy pollen .Will this white hairy mold hurt a new swarm or will they just abscond, Any info would be great.
More then likely the mold you are seeing is simply due to moisture. Once the bees die there is no regulation of the enviroment and all sorts of mold and mildew can take hold.
Brush off as many bees as you can and store it well ventilated to prevent matters from getting any worse. New bees will treat it like moving into a messy apartment, clean it up and makes a great home with cell walls already built!
