I checked the hives yesterday, 1-hive I found no eggs, plenty of capped brood, small open brood. I fed a 2/1 syrup, and after securing the top on, they were pouring out the front. I captured a very small swarm cluster this past week, I think they came from this hive. What should I do?

continue to feed for about a week and recheck. in any number of my hives the extremely dry conditions have caused the queen to drastically reduce egg production. on some fairly strong hives I throughtly examined 10 frames and could only find a very small patch of eggs.

in addition be wary of those small late season swarms (especially if you are dry) since I think they have an increased likelyhood of being AHB.
