I was looking through a ML catalog and noticed hive body (depth) sizes are 9 5/8" for deeps and 6 5/8" for supers. But their frame sizes are 9 1/8" for deeps and they list a 7 1/4" frame and a 6 1/4" frame...............? What are the 7 1/4" frames supposed to fit? :s

the 7 5/8 are also called western supers or western deeps. they are mostly used in the northwest and northern plains. some western keepers liked them for both brood boxes and supers. kind of the same idea as modern hobiests running all mediums.

They were the original mediums where I grew up, later on I was introduces to Illinois suppers which are the 6 5/8. Guess it's all a matter of where you are standing Whem you make a statement as to weather it is right or wrong!
