Since lemon grass oil mimics a queen's pheromone, is there and way lemongrass oil can be used to to trick the queen in a hive into thinking a foreign queen has entered the hive and lure her to a cotton ball containing lemongrass oil? Has anyone heard of this being done? If this can be done it would have many beneficial applications for the beekeeper. I would come in handy in trying to catch a queen you want to replace.... especially the queen in an aggressive hive.

I asked a similar question in 2015, for the same reason. Finding a queen in a hot hive can be maddening. And painful.

Michael Bush suggested to me that all the required elements for attracting a queen bee can be found in . . . another queen bee.

I don't know of any proven method to use one queen to attract another queen, but it's certainly worth thinking about.
