I had to move a hive and a lot of bees came back to the original location. I put a box out for them figuring they would wander off pretty quick, but they didn't. They are now acting like a normal hive collected honey and building comb but without a queen.

I'm thinking about moving them several miles away so that they will re-orient then bringing them back and reintroducing them to their original hive.

My question is ... how long do I need to leave them in the temporary location to reset their GPS units? I'm going to have to leave them where I can't watch them and don't want to leave them longer than necessary.

I'd try newspaper combining them back into the queen-right hive. That would keep them confined a couple days in the hive.

Googled newspaper combine and it sounds perfect. I'm going to try it in the morning. Thanks Dude
