The Rare Hawaiian Honey Company is a producer of gourmet, organic honey varieties. Our customer base receives and expects the highest quality raw organic honey available. Producing honey of this quality requires a unique attention to detail. We are currently recruiting applicants for the position of Head Beekeeper. We are relatively small, with hive counts normally less than 500.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years commercial beekeeping experience. Although this position is primarily caring for bees, you will also be expected to help with other aspects of the honey business when necessary. Valuable skills include:

1) The ability to get along with others and work well within a team environment.

2) The ability to endure strenuous physical labor outdoors and indoors, sometimes in hot conditions, and be capable of repeatedly lifting boxes of honey that way 30 pounds or more.

3) Familiarity with operating forklifts and large trucks, carpentry skills and mechanical skills (capable of repairing equipment) would be advantageous in this position, but these skills can be learned on the job.

4) Grafting and rearing queens.

We are located on the Big Island of Hawaii with an office in Kamuela and a honey production facility near Kawaihae. Applicants without US citizenship will not be considered unless they already possess documentation that allows them to work and remain in the US. We offer competitive wages, commensurate with the applicants experience, along with health benefits and a profit sharing plan, paid major holidays and 3-weeks vacation the first 2-years, a month of paid vacation after 3-years. Pay is commensurate with experience and we will assist with moving expenses for an exceptional candidate. FYI, the Big Island has no active cases of COVID19! Interested applicants should email [email protected] and request an application.
