Checking one of my newly split hives today, didn't inspect, just watching. There were more drones than I have ever seen flying in and out at the landing board. This particular hive had queen cells emerge 10 days ago or so. Could this be a mating flight??
Loads of drones flying....

If there are drones mature enough to fly, and the weather is good, the drones fly. The most flights occur from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.
