Hi everyone....I hope and trust you all are having a great season! The nectar flow and weather has been great for bees and harvest this season in the Stunning Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York after HORRENDOUS 2018 season. We get many request and interest in our modified 2 queen system over the years and finally got down to getting a video of part of the process. The video is not all inclusive but should be enough for most beekeepers to get the general concept. We will be posting more on this at the start of next season. A couple of questions answered out of the gate....do we get queens bred above the queen excluder after the combine...Once in awhile but not often. We think this is due to the the large number of bees and the transfer of phermones across the queen excluder due to population and Yes the splits we make in August can be built up to strong 5 frame nucs and wintered very well in Styrofoam nuc boxes in our region, ours are installed in hives and wintered in South Carolina with most of our other hives. Listen...our system is far from perfect but has worked very well in our operation for many years. We run around 250 hives. I Look forward to answering any question you may have....watch and enjoy!!
