How long should one wait after capturing a late season swarm before attempting a recompile?

I had a small swarm yesterday evening. This morning I got it into a brood box. Since there is not a snowballs chance of it surviving I plan to combine back to parent. I was thinking that I should wait about a week before doing the recombine.

Opinions are.........................
Mine is, kill the queen as soon as the swarm is found. Stir the swarm into the air, and they will normally go back to their hive on their own.

I thought it best to let the two queens work it out on the recombine.

If the new queen does not mate well (due to decrease in drones this late in season) the old queen with the swarm may be a better option - even with desire to swarm.

You may be right. As I said, Opinions are like...........
I just have never had the experience with the queen left behind that you describe. I will admit, it, like anything else, is possible.
The odds, tho, are questionable.
