After a year of listening to my step-dad's exploits with bees, I just couldn't resist getting into it. I have six Italian extremely docile hives in Carpinteria, CA at the moment. I'm probably going to disperse them to several friends' places throughout the county. I'm excited to learn more and if I ever get a bumper harvest of honey try brewing some mead.

I do socially responsible investing during the day, so I'm looking at this hobby as a nice way to decompress a bit after work when there's no surf.

If you have the room for them, you might want to keep them together . Its faster and easier to work 1 location. Once you get a few seasons under you then you could branch out and see who has the better nector source. I keep 10-15 hives at my place and 8-10 at another. I still have 2 yards with 2 hives at them and its a pain to try and get out to check on them. I hope to hand those 2 off sometime soon.
