I have a queen in a mating nuc that is newly mated and a hive that needs a queen. I do not want to put her in a cage and stop the process of her beginning to lay. I thought of using a push in cage, but that still does not leave her much room to lay, especially since they have not cleared out a very big area for her to start. Any ideas?

Maybe give them a frame with eggs and allow them to start making their own while new queen proves out. Grab queen, destroy queen cells, and introduce like normal?
