Dear All,
I am about to purchase a mated queen and want to introduce the new queen slowly by way of a cage, with a candy plug. i am afraid of the possibility of there being laying workers in this hive already. I have heard that this may prove to be deadly for the newly introduced queen.

Any suggestions?? Please I am getting this queen in a day or two. Thanks for any helpful hints on how to introduce without the possibility of them killing her.

If you have another hive, then I would give them a frame of open brood. The pheromones from the open brood will start to suppress the laying workers. Then, I would get a frame of emerging brood and a push in cage to introduce the queen.

What I would normally do, is not to get a queen (odds of them killing her are too high to be worth the cost).
