Hello, I am making 3/4 plywood inner covers that will be doubled as an outer cover once hives get supered and they become uneven for the common cover to sit on.

I want to know if the plastic plugs for pail feeder holes are okay to have exposed to the weather , or should I put something over them to keep the sun from deteriorating the plastic and making them brittle ??? which kind of defeats the purpose of the plug LOL

Thanks
Ben

The will eventually deteriorate. I takes a few years though and they do a good job until that point. Here we have a family of raccoons that likes to climb on top of our hives and pull them out.

A square piece of metal attached with a sheet metal screw in one corner.

Weather proof and never comes out or gets detached.
