I did an ox acid dribble yesterday and went about my winterizing. Went back today to add ratchet straps and found increased dead at the entrance.

A small number of bees, but it always looks like the whole **** hive, I opened the top and found a cluster, so no worries that I had completely killed the hive, but I was that worried.

Is this normal?

Adult bees should be largely OK ... perhaps it was just a slightly warmer day and the undertakers were more active?
Unsealed brood is damaged by OA dribble.

OA vaporization is much easier and quicker than dribble. Do it about anytime even at night. Work from the back to stay out of the way. In locations where you do not have broodless periods treat multiple times 5-6 days apart and use a sticky board for 48 hrs after treating to see mite drop. It drop is 10-15 mites treat again in 5-6 days.
