it is a solitary bee, more than 2,000 species in the USA, could be a miner, mason or leaf roller.

Newly emerged AMM workers can not even fly - so to be found outside of a hive in some distance.

I tend to find miners (Andrena species) as one of the very first solitary bees in spring, followed by masons, sweat bees and etc (the majority I cannot really identify).

I saw one of those last week bring a piece of a leaf into the drain hole on the underside of a hanging basket. She must have a little nest in there

I’m gonna say East Blueberry Bee, for no other reason than I picked “Rich Strike” at 80-1 in the Kentucky Derby…but didn’t lay a bet down…love those long shots.
