This is my first time ever keeping honey bees. I am 30 years old and wanted to try something exciting and these little guys fascinate me. I ordered a nuc, which arrived Tuesday, and I picked them up yesterday and introduced them to the hive today. I read that after 3 days I could let the queen out of her cage but the man I ordered them from said that they would do this on their own and I probably just killed the queen. I was told to leave the hive alone for 5 days and then go check to see if she was accepted or not. Bummer. I guess my question is, is it likely my queen was murdered? Also, I wanted to go put a ziplock bag of syrup in the hive...do I wait 5 days to do that as well? Thanks!

Yes, 4 frame nuc. I didn't put the baggy on...should wait 3 days or go back now and put the water on. I had already released the queen because I know she had been in the nuc since Tuesday. But the man I bought them from said transit time doesn't count.
