I hope this is normal

First time bee keeper. I hived my nuc on Saturday. They seem happy and the hive top feeder is full.

Is it normal for there not to be a single bee flying around in the evening and morning? It is chilly here. (Northern New Jersey)

Thanks!

A good package is made up of mostly young nurse bees. They maybe too young to forage. Keep feed on them and be patient.

Leesb, I too am in north jersey (lake hopatcong and I work out of millburn). My bees really didnt start moving until 10 oclock every morning and that was only if it was 48 or better. once they got established they started earlier as long as it was pushing 50. don't worry just yet. Dont expect to see too much going on the next couple days. Its raw out and we are due for alot of rain.
Thanks! I figured that was normal. I'm in Millburn right now! Im a local dogwalker!

Dog walkers, Fios guys, etc. Bee keepers come from all types!
I live in Florida and even though the mornings have been in the high 50's low 60's, I only see limited activity early. Generally around 8am - 9am I will see a gathering at the entrance and bees coming and going more frequently. Between 4:30 - 5:30pm I see what i refer to as flight training. Numerous bees come out of the hive every day and just fly in circles to get their orientation.
They don't fly in the morning until they warm up. They don't fly when it's cold. They all want to be home before dark because they can't fly in the dark. They all want to be home when it's cold because they can't keep themselves warm enough and they get paralyzed.
