One of the hives in my backyard swarmed last night. So, since I am in Australia, she made some phone calls to local beekeepers asking for help. She wasnt able to contact anyone, so she took matters into her own hands.

At 10pm she went out and tried to hive the swarm. They were in a small oak tree about 5 feet off the ground. Well that didnt work out, cause it was dark, they started flying and she couldnt see, so it freaked her out.

But being a good trooper, she has put it off till this morning to try again. And as a special note, I have an Ultra Breeze jacket. But she wasnt wearing that, she wore a veil and coveralls. So this morning I told her to use the Ultra Breeze, because you wont get stung, it is like wearing a suit of armor.

So with her confidence up, her spray bottle of sugar water, and her suit of armor she is going to capture her first swarm.

She has gotten dragged into another of my hobbies.

It sounds like she got them into a hive body, she will go out later this afternoon and peek inside.

This is a huge step for her. She has gotten over some of her fears of bees and enjoyed working with them. And wants to learn more!!!
