Hived my first package this Spring :)
It's already been a hoot watching the girls work!
I appreciate all the opinions on the forum.

BTW, Chicken is in the Eastern Interior of Alaska.

Welcome to Beesource!

I can't resist asking - are there chickens in Chicken AK? :)
Welcome, I started my first top bar hive here in fairbanks on the 13th.
Thought the token chickens are in Tok?
No comment on that one :D
Chris,
Good luck with the top bar. I'm starting off with the Langs.

Got my package on the 14th. Bit of a ruff start for the girls but
seem to be doing well now.
Welcome
How hard is it to winter over bee's in your area, have you talked to other beeks about it up there .

Indeed I have. To most it seems not practical. Those that tried had severe die-off.
I haven't given up on the idea, but I need more practical knowledge under my
belt first.
Don't give up ,I'm sure there are ways to cope with your weather up there and get the bee's through , have mites found there way up there yet .

Do you fish much , was wondering if the silver run was any better last year along the Kenai river , seems like its been on the decline now for awhile .
