Now is really not the time for a baggie feeder. Yes you would have to add some space, and they would build comb in that space and make a mess... there is no reason to be feeding now, there is plenty blooming everywhere in North America.
I use a "shim." its about 2 inches high frame that allows for the baggie to sit inside without being crushed by the telescoping cover but not a big space where the bees may get the idea that its a new place to build comb. I place my baggie on the top cover inside the shim and then the telescoping top on top of that. No extra comb so far and it keeps the baggie off the frames in the hive. The bees come up through the hole in the inner cover to eat.
