hi I Caught a swarm I and was wondering what breed they are they have amber and black strips and are very gentle does any one know how I could identify them :scratch: thanks

Carniolans, Caucasians, the european bees are generally darker in abdomen.

My Russians are a dull yellow-brown with black stripes & hairs.

Italians are somewhat more yellow & black standard.

Buckfast are more orange haired with middle yellow stripes.

Don't hold me to it, but this is what I've noticed with different pictures.

Most swarms are gentle, except for the Africans.

glen apairies (who supplies ai/ii queens for queen breeders) web site has some nice pictures of several 'races' of bees. look there and compare.

all the old world 'races' of bees have been mixed up here in the us of a fairly completely which is why most folks refer to most bees as mutts.
