I would check the mites once or twice during the treatment. If it is not working and numbers are rapidly climbing it is better to know early.
With apivar since it is a long term treatment (40ish days) checking immediately after is fine. With some of the faster treatments (OAV) you may want to wait a few days for the mites to finish dropping before doing a count.
