How much honey do you usually get from your hives? Are you North, South or Mid U.S.? How many hives do you have? I've been bee keeping for about 5 years, the best I've done was 30# from one shallow super. It was completely filled and capped. I don't seem to do very good, have 3 hives and lucky to get 5 pounds from each one per season. There are plenty of fields around and plenty of flowering trees and plants. I don't get it.

Every region has different yields that vary with the climate during the blooming season and even before when the bees are building strength. Comb production consumes a lot of honey, estimates are 7 to 14 pounds for one pound of comb. When they can work drawn comb obviously the yield will be greater. Some bees, like Italians, carry larger numbers through the Winter, some build up quicker before the flow starts.
