I was checking my hives today and i seen that all (4) hives had a lot of drones. Looking at several frames, some had many capped drone cells. I was wondering, is it normal for a queen early in spring to produce many drones. The frames in the middle have capped worker cells as well.

We are in the very beginnings of swarm season here, and warmer weather is forecast. It's normal for hives to have 10 to 20 percent or more drones in spring and summer. I'd say a full healthy hive here in CA should be starting to have drones now, particularly if you're in S.CA. I am in N.CA and am seeing drone brood here now in the stronger hives.

Pick those drones out with your fingers and carry them in a cupped hand.
Freaks people right out
I sent my kindergardner to school with a jar with a few drones for show and tell. Had to write quite a paper for the teacher to read before they all freaked out.
When you can hear the difference as they fly by your head you can snatch them from the air. Don't blame me if you swipe at the wrong one though!
