Looks like we're near the end of warmth.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here know how long it takes for bees to cure 2:1 syrup completely?

Will daytime highs of 60F, and night temps in the low 40s be too cold for them to cure syrup?

I don't know, and don't think it matters. I have been feeding for a few weeks, some is capped, some is not. Capped (presumably "cured") is better than uncapped, uncapped is better than starvation.

I expect my feeding window to close in a week or two, so I will continue feeding for now.

To answer your actual question, I think it took about 3 weeks in my recent weather conditions, AFAICT. Under current conditions, similar to yours, I doubt they will ever cap it.p

At what temperature do they STOP curing syrup?

If daytime temperatures are in the 50s and 60s, will they be able to cure 2:1 syrup?

I'm not saying the bees are actively doing anything when it's really cold, but the dry cold air continues to absorb moisture from the syrup and that moisture still condenses on the cold sides and/or cover.

If feeding late in the fall, make the sugar syrup as concentrated/supersaturated as possible. By doing that, you've essentially performed the "curing" part for them.

High levels of humidity and poor ventilation within the hive can prevent or at least drastically slow dow the curing process.

FWIW, my bees will cap the honey at 19.8%, much to my dismay.

How well the hive is insulated and the degree of ventilation will affect how late the bees can still dry down syrup. I expect to put 10 pounds gain on each colony in the next two weeks. Frost warning for tonight.

They will work AT curing syrup till they have to cluster. I dont know if you are close to target weight or if you are far short of it. If you have put on 4 gallons of syrup in less than a week for instance, it likely wont all get dried down. If they have been taking smaller amounts they wont have such a backlog. As mentioned insulate the top and feed warmed up syrup if you still need more weight on them.

If you have large amounts of watery syrup on board you should be extra careful to get sufficient ventilation in a way that does not cost too much lost heat.

So, all my hives have taken 15 kgs of 2:1 syrup in the last 3 weeks and now it’s +1 C . I think I’ll be getting sugar boards ready.
My concern is they were making bees, not stores from the late season bounty.
Definitely some storage, but I’m not convinced it was enough. Too late to fuss that now.
Sugar is cheap, bees aren’t.
At this latitude I’m reluctant to break propolis seals this time of year.
Mantra = Sugar cheap, bees expensive
Que sera, sera. Die is cast, did my best.

I had the same concern about making bees instead of putting up stores. New territory for me as previously my bees were Carni type habits and cut back brooding on their own.

Apparently a person can flood them with 4 or 5 gallons at once which will force the issue but I was afraid of instigating swarms. I have now requeened those colonies.

If you use shavings/quilt boxes it would probably be good to put them on. I used to wait till November for that but I think I will push it ahead since they surely will have uncapped syrup for a while.

Alea iacta est. You will be fine if you keep the sugar bricks on them. I just added feeders to my last 4 hives. All had a fair amount of capped syrup, but not the full medium supers I like to over winter with. Temps here are still above 90° F. during the day.

How late into the season will they add propolis ?

Is there a temperature at which they stop adding propolis?

Weather is going to be humid, and not too warm...

No freezing temps.
