How dependent is commercial beekeeping on almonds?

In a hypothetical scenario where suddenly almond pollination no longer existed, what would that mean for the commercial beekeeping industry? By how much would commercial beekeeping in the USA shrink?

It's my understanding that 90% of hives in America go to California for almond pollination.

I don't know of any commercial beekeepers who only do almond pollination. Almond pollination is just one piece of the commercial beekeeping pie.

I believe good commercial beekeepers would be able to adapt to changing market conditions if almond pollination stopped. They'd still do the things they did before they started doing almond pollination.
