I don't know if the fly entered through the entrance or simply landed on the top of the opened hive. Do horseflies eat honey?

With the record breaking low temps we have had around here - maybe he was looking for a warm place?

Do you think that if you wait until 1-2pm and have your daughter open the hive he would just fly out? But wouldn't the bees try to sting him?

Good luck. Tell us what happens.

Thanks folks.

Record breaking is right! Have you Ever?

I took a few frames of honey but now I'm wondering if I should keep them for replacement back onto the hives. Whichever one seems low.

I hope I'm not tempted to split all my hives next year. When I do, I don't get much honey. I wonder if it would be best to simply add another hive box when they get real strong?

Well schucks. That won't really work because then you have to deal with the swarms.
