I built a ventilated Honey jar super to see how it would do. This appealed to me for several reasons, fresh honey right in the jar, easily topped off and sealed, the observation aspect of watching the bees construct comb and make the honey, and I also think that the jars are a unique bit of Bee art! I made several modifications, the supers are well ventilated and can be used as vents without the jars when needed, jars can be unscrewed and replaced without disturbing the honey production, and the jars screw on to of the board. Just wanted to share as there is not a lot out there on these, has anyone else tried this method? Beehave all! Dirk

Yes. You are going to have to weld pure wax foundations into the jars. As the bees will place junky comb on the sides, if they do anything at all.
