I purchased a new 20 frame Dadant extractor last month. It didn't come with a honey gate. It has a 2" inch threaded opening in it. I would like to find a metal 2" honey gate to go on it.Does anyone know where to purchase one?
You will not be bottling out of the extractor so the $150~. dispensing valves are overkill. They also have a rather small exit hole. I would go with a much cheaper ball valve that will not plug with bits of comb etc. Even one of the plastic ball valves would work.
Both Maxant and Mann Lake have very good dispensing valves that I would hate to do without for bottling. They are worth every penny for that task!
Go to your local Home Depot and grab a pvc 2” to 1.5” reducer bushing from the plumbing department. $2-3$ Thread the reducer in, then you can thread a plastic honey gate in. I’d wrap some Teflon tape on the threads. You could probably find a stainless reducer, but might need to go to a specialty plumbing supply.
Or just get a 2” stainless ball valve and 2” stainless nipple
