I talked to a grower this morning and he said he needs hives to fill his current almond needs because some one stole about 2,100 hives from the bee keeper that he had contracted with this season.
Hive thefts cause a ripple effect!
I highly doubt a report was filed with the authorities. This is just another one of many well worn excuses as to why they don't have the bees. Occasionally larger amounts are stolen, but mostly it's in the 12-24 range. If it would just rain some more then we can say it's too muddy or the bridge washed out.
What good does it do to start drinking Ripple if some bees get stolen? I don't understand that part.
