this is my first winter with my bees.
Had a great summer, strong brood but now
I have a question. We had our first snowstorm
and the next day I had about 30 bees dead outside the
hive box. One was still alive and I tried to get her to
go back in, she wouldn't. Is this normal? They are all
workers and very small

Welcome to the wonderful world of beekeeping! It is normal to find a few dead bees near the hive or in the snow. Old bees die and are removed from the hive and some fly out and die. Just keep a check on them by hefting the hive to be sure they are OK with stores. Good luck.

Thanks, I've been doing that they are loaded with honey!
I feel so much better knowing it's normal. I treat my girls like pets.
merry christmas
