I received a notification from the Veteran's Administration about a free Beekeeping program offered by Michigan State University. My understanding of the program is that they will email you course content monthly. There may be some hands-on activities depending on Covid.

It is free to active duty military, retired military and veterans. You may be asked to provide a copy of your DD-214 or VA Health Care ID to prove veteran's status.

I have no association with the program. I'm a Vietnam veteran and received a notice about the program. Just passing it on to those who might be interested.

When I first read this thread, my initial thought was "blah whatever" and kept going.

Well it just so happens this past weekend, I was talking to someone I met in a caving group. When I mentioned that I was an amateur beekeeper, her eyes lit up and said "Have you ever heard of Heros to Hives? My friend helped start that program!"

She went on to tell me about all the great stuff they have done. It seems they have done a significant amount of good, and is worth more than just a "blah whatever".

You may be thinking of another organization called Hives For Heroes.
It was started by Veterans for Veterans, not a collage course.
It is hands on teaching buy a beekeeper for 1 year.
I have been on there mentor list for 2 years and every one they connect me with is either over an hour away from my hives and they don't want to drive that far or they already have bees. I do have several that call when needing help.

Hives for Heroes is the mentorship program.
Heroes to Hives is the online course program with optional field practice.

2 programs doing good things with confusing names when trying to distinguish between them haha

Honestly I don't know. I'll confirm the next time I see her.
