Last year I was called to Cottonwood Lane where the big arm of tree fell down. None wanted to move it off the road as the bees had them bullied. I boxed 'em up and fed them last fall. I hadn't noticed anything peculiar about them at the time. NOW-- having made it thru winter--they appear to be almost black--hairless and a bit smaller than my Italians. I see bands of darker color. I've heard of Arizona brown bees and black Russians. Sorry, I have no photo........Can anyone help determine the genus?
THNX, Tom
