Hello everyone! My name is Doug and I'm on my third year of beekeeping.

Year 1, the bees suddenly started dying off in the early fall, looking wet.
Year 2, the Queen died/disappeared/killed and it was so late in the summer I just let them die off.

Now, spring 2019, I am beginning year 3.

Before getting anything I attended a 2-day beekeeping seminar and read a few books. At the seminar it was strongly suggested to start with 2 hives so you an inexperienced beekeeper (me) can compare and learn more quickly. Well, I looked at the cost and thought, "Naw, I'll do one at a time". So this year I will be starting with 2 hives. LOL

I think part of my problem here as well is that I live in farm country. Bees may be getting hit with insecticide while they are out.

Anyway, I joined the forum a while back and am just now getting active in it and I look forward to learning so much more. I will say that to date I am really learning a lot. Never thought I would spend $140 on a package of bugs. LOL

See ya around.
