Hi, My son (10 years old) and I just started this adventure this spring. We read everything we can, hoping to do things right. So far, it seems like there is no one "right" way in beekeeping!! This site has been full of amazing information and so helpful! We have just one hive right now that seems to be doing very well---lots of bees, capped honey, etc. Is this a good season for everyone in this area?

It has been a very good year so far in N. IL. If they are bearding they need some more room as it is hot but not that hot. You can also crack the top lid a little with a stick above the inner cover to let some heat rise out. Congratulations on your first crop.
