Hello, I am just starting to read and research beekeeping to see if I would like it. Is there anyone out there who lives close to Ho Ho Kus, NJ who can share their knowledge? Any advice from anyone? So far I think I will enjoy it. I think the next step is to see if I really can handle being around the bees...I hope so!

Hello and Welcome!

This forum is a good place to learn more about bees & beekeeping. Be sure to check out the "How to Start Beekeeping" subforum - it contains many useful tips for those just starting out.

Also, check you local library for books & videos on beekeeping, and of course, the web has some excellent sites. Two in particular I recommend:

Most importantly though, I recommend getting involved with a local beekeeping club. Clubs often offer beginning beekeeping classes, and I'm sure they would love to connect you to a few nearby beekeepers so you can arrange to meet them and go thru their hives with them. Chances are, one time will be all it takes and you'll be hooked! Check here for local clubs:
