About 20 years ago in Toronto, a friend introduced me to beeswax paintings. I had never heard of such a thing. After a detour to Chicago for many years, I found myself in Raleigh, NC taking beeswax painting classes. Right away, I fell in love with its luminosity.

I've since learned this ancient medium (invented by the Romans and Greeks) was also used in the 1600s in the Philippines, where I was born. I guess I've come full circle. Now if only I made my own beeswax… :shhhh:

Better be careful, you start beekeeping and you just might enjoy it more than painting!:D
When were you in Chicago? Chicago, as in downtown?

Yes, I lived in the Loop, on E. Randolph close to the lake. I left five years ago, trading the hum of Lake Shore Drive for the rustle of pine trees. I like the quiet here but I also miss the big city.

I do know someone who has a hive. Fascinating! You never know…
