When pulling a suitable frame for grafting what method should be used to remove bees without damaging larva?
Thanks deknow. You addressed the question I did not ask but was interested in "how susceptible are the larva to shaking?" Unfortunately I have a lot of practice as I have had to do shake-outs of laying workers on 2 occasions this spring. The young larvae are very robust and are hard to injure. With that said, gentle shaking will get many bees off without dislodging the larvae....a brush or tall grass will finish the job.
I find it hard to get the turkey to stand still....:lpf:I use a turkey wing, they don`t get that po ed like they do with a brush,,,,,,,,Pete
