I have heard that inspection of a hive is best done during banker's hours. Well, NO KIDDING! I got into the hive at 7pm tonight and found a gazillion bees home - and not happy with me! Yeah, closed back up and will check tomorrow around noon when the girls are at work.

I gotta say that I prefer cool to hot any day. So I mostly check on em before 9am when most are still sitting around the hive. I really don't notice any more aggression at that time of day or late evening for that matter.

I didn't use smoke, this time. I was just out to feed them and thought I'd take a peek. Maybe the difference I noticed in aggression was the lack of smoke? However, there were sooo many more bees in the hive than what I have noticed during my noon checks. You're right - much hotter at noon!
