I installed 8 bee packages that are about 1 hour from my home.

I have 1 gallon frame feeders in the hives right now.

I only want to travel to these sites once a week and then every two weeks when I stop feeding.

Should I get 1.5 or 2 gallon frame feeders?

I woudl say once a week during build up. I don't do much with my hives but once a month once they start making honey. I only feed to stimulate build up or prevent starvation.

I would say my feeding only happens during the weekly checking period as well. A gallon a week is about all I think I would want to feed them. I have some pretty big hives and if they go more than a gallon a week they have started to fill cells with it. Some say that bees will not store sugar water. I am to that good at seeing what might be sugar water and what is nectar that is coming in. I am certain of this. I cannot give the bees as much sugar water as they will take. A gallon a week I think is good enough for a hive that is even 3 or 4 boxes tall filed with bees. Is is far more than enough for a hive starting out first thing in the spring.
