the foam is fermented honey. They probably picked up moisture in the garage. This might also be an indication of hive beetle larva ruining the honey. Inspect the combs for small maggots. If you find them you need to freeze the frames immediately to kill them. Otherwise, just put them back on the hives and let the bees handle it.

I use three med. brood chambers. I took the fourth and fifth supers off for a month while I treated the hive with Apiguard. I keep the supers in my garage. Some small areas of the nectar and honey got a little foamy. I am planning to put the supers back on now. Is that foamy nectar and honey going to harm the bees or will they just eat it or process it somehow.
