Just wondering if I should expect first year honey in north Florida? Just set up my hive this past Sunday with 5 frames from an established nuc. I don't have anything for extracting or bottling and didn't know if I should go ahead and get bottles or not.

It depends on too many things to know. Lots of pint and quart jars are available at Wallieworld at all seasons. Just keep watching and don't let the bees become crowded. They won't fill a box that is not on the hive. People listen to fools that say never and their bees get plugged and swarm.

bandjhoneyshak - listen to Vance G on this one. You have a better chance of having a little excess honey this year as you started with a nuc, however there's lots of varriables to know for sure. However as Vance G says they won't fill a box that is not on the hive, so watch them close and make sure they have the room they need.
